Meet John McKinney: The Heart & Soul of Happy Go Leafy

Growing up in Fort Worth, Texas, I learned two things early on – the importance of hard work and the love of family. My name’s John McKinney, an Army Ranger who served in Desert Storm and a proud son of generations of ranchers. I’ve always been a man of action, whether it was being an offensive lineman in my high school football team or tending to our family ranch. My story, though, took a turn when my father’s health began to decline. The Vietnam War had left him with scars that couldn’t be seen, nightmares that wouldn’t fade. It broke my heart to see him struggle every day, but it was his battle with pain that led us to a solution – kratom.

My dad first encountered kratom during his tour in Vietnam. It was a natural herb the locals used, and it offered some relief for the soldiers. So, out of options and driven by desperation, I dived headfirst into understanding this herb that seemed to promise solace.
The more I learned, the more I realized how this herb could transform lives, just as it did my father’s. His sleep improved, his pain eased, and he started feeling more like the man I remembered. Inspired by this change, I felt a spark ignite within me. I could help others in the same boat, those grappling with the aftermath of war, the veterans who served our country, just like my father and me.

That spark grew into Happy Go Leafy. I started by turning a part of our family ranch into a small indoor kratom farm. I ensured every leaf was potent and pure. I wanted to provide an honest solution to those who needed it, an alternative to manage occasional pain and stress. My venture wasn’t just a business; it was a mission, a calling.

When we receive our kratom, we blend and batch in small quantities to ensure there are no hot spots of bacteria. Then, the product is shipped to a third-party lab for a full panel of testing of microbials, heavy metals, and alkaloids. We go by the National Sanitation Foundation’s criteria for dietary supplements. If the batch does not meet these standards, the kratom is disposed of and never sold.
